Galactic – What You Need

People like Jamie Hyneman inspire me. You may know him as the guy from Mythbusters with the beret and moustache. However, prior to being on mythbusters he was a scuba diving instructor, a wilderness survival expert, a boat captain, a linguist, a pet shop owner, an animal wrangler, a machinist, a concrete inspector, a chef, and a special effects expert.

Clearly he has had a desire to experience everything he can. He is never afraid of change or afraid of failing. In each step of his life he has found a method of sustaining his livelihood in a way that has fulfilled each of his interests and desires at that particular point in time. Doing exactly what he was drawn to has lead him to success. If ever there was a good role model.

Also note that none of his businesses involved sitting in front of a computer or in an office complex.

I’ve had the great fortune of taking some wonderful trips to many different areas of the globe, but most of them have been for only a week. There is no possible way to absorb everything a particular country, city, or landscape has to offer in that short of a time. The only way to fully understand how life is lived in different parts of the world, is to live it. The more time I spend researching and learning about different areas the more I realize that I’ll never get a good grasp on the local culture without immerising myself in it. I’ve visited many places, but I’ve only experienced one. The North Eastern United States is the only place in the whole world I’ve spent any significant amount of time. It’s a shame. There is so much to experience and enjoy in this world and only one lifetime in which to do it. It’s a shame that I have to this point seen only so little. But that is all going to change. I am leaving Boston, I am leaving New England, and I am leaving the North East. I am going everywhere else.

Notice that the camper in this photo looks similar to mine. I plan on finding a nice location just like this one and doing some spectacular living.

The Octopus Project – Truck

… a video of the Counting Crows performing Round Here on Letterman in 1994. Anyone know where I might procure a copy?

I’m also curious how good their new albumn will be. I believe it goes on sale this month. I might have to check it out.

I stopped scrobbling my music about a year ago when I switched my music player from Winamp to Foobar. I just discovered that there is now a scrobbler for Foobar. It’s running as of right now. Hooray!

Note to self: Check out the latest Busdriver album.

Sometimes I wish my bedroom was on the backside of the house so I could pee out the window instead of walking over to the bathroom. Yeah.
